Giant panda and McCarthy's Wild Sanctuary.

Hi! Today is the last day of the July. I am going to tell about beautiful but rare animal - giant panda and wildlife sanctuary.

Giant panda (Ailuropoda melanoleuca) is a bear native in China. It eats 99% bamboo so sometimes it's called bamboo bear. Giant panda lives in central-western and south western China. Because of disafforestation, now they live only in some provinces. Giant panda is a symbol of China.

Fifty years ago there were only a few hundreds of pandas. People made WWF and the giant panda became a symbol of this fund.

A report shows that there are about 239 pandas living in captivity inside China. There are about 1 600 individuals living in the wild.

Sometimes pandas attack humans to defend them selves, not to kill. As I said, they eat 99% bamboo, the last 1% is not humans.

It weights about 150 kilos or 330 lbs and it is about 1.2 to 1.8 meters or 4 to 6 ft long. Giant panda has got black ears, muzzle, arms, legs, eye patches and shoulders, the rest of the fur is white.

It lives about 20 years in the wild and about 30 years in captivity. The oldest captive giant panda, female called Ming Ming, lived 34 years long life.

Giant panda eats about 9 to 14 kilos or 20 to 30 pounds of bamboo everyday!

Giant pandas are easy compared to clouded leopards.

McCarthy's Wildlife Sanctuary is an amazing place. Every year it heals many animals. This year McCarthy's Wildlife Sanctuary has cured hundreds of native animals that were sick, like foxes, pelicans, hawks and much more.

In this sanctuary work many volunteers. Director of this place is Mark McCarthy. He has worked with animals since 1972 and he love doing it! He has worked as a reptile keeper and collaborated with animal dealers. Mark has worked with many animals.

In 1990 mister McCarthy started his education program. For the past 16 years he has performed 6 000 wildlife programs reaching over 500 000 students in South Florida. It is very impressive! He has helped over 4 000 animals.

You can donate to this sanctuary and read more information here - http://www.mccarthyswildlife.com/.

Thank you for reading! In the next article I am going to tell you about PETA and spectacled bear. Let's help our nature and animals!

White tiger and WWF.

Hi! Many innovations in nowadays have been very helpful but they have done some bad things too. People burn and hew out many forests in whole world. And many animals are getting rarer and rarer each day.

White tigers (Panthera tigris) are very rare animals now. They have pale fur with gray or fair stripes, blue eyes and a pink nose.
Most of them are located one the Mainland of Southeastern Asia and in central and southern India.
They are larger then other tigers (about 3 meters or 9 feet and 10 inches long and weight 180-285 kilos or 400-628 pounds). One of 10 000 wild tiger births will result in a wild tiger. Pretty rare, isn't it?
White tigers pale color is caused by the recessive gene. They are not albinos. If two white tigers multiply, the cub will definitely be white.
The last white tiger seen alive was shot in 1958.
